Here are a few travel tips and information on the area:
Malaria:
Monwana Game Lodge is situated in a low risk malaria area. We advise all travelers to ensure that they take prophylactics. Monwana provides guests with mosquito repellant spray. Each suite has mosquito netting over the beds and windows.
If you either pregnant or travelling with an infant to the area in the malaria season, it is advisable to consult a doctor before departing for your holiday.

Travel Times:
From Johannesburg - 5.5 hours
From Nelspruit - 2.5 hours
From Tzaneen - 2 hours
From Dullstroom - 3.5 hours
ATM's (hole in the wall) and petrol stations:
Driving from Johannesburg via Belfast, Dullstroom to Hoedspruit, ATMs and petrol stations are available in Belfast, Dullstroom, Lydenburg and Hoedspruit
Driving Nelspruit to Hoedspruit, there are ATMs and petrol stations available in Nelspruit, White River and Hazyview
Golf courses:
The area offers some fantastic golfing, if you are a golf enthusiast we would suggest golfing at the following two courses, both offer golf equipment hire:
Leopard Creek - Malelane
Hans Merensky - Phalaborwa
Please feel free to contact us should you require a quotation or wish to book either of the above prior to your arrival. We suggest that for Leopard Creek to book at least 6 months in advance.

Car Hire:
Car hire can be booked online. Both Avis and Budget car hire deliver and collect vehicles at Thornybush main lodge on request, for a small fee.

Please note that all international travellers hiring a car, due to new laws in South Africa, will require an international license in order to hire a car.
What to bring with for your stay at Monwana?
Summer months are our rain seasons, Monwana provides ponchos for the vehicles but a comfortable and warm rain jacket is always welcome. In the winter months a warm jacket is necessary. Monwana provides fleece blankets on the game drive vehicles.
Furthermore, Monwana provides hairdryers, international adaptors and torches in the rooms. It is advisable to bring an international adaptor with you as not all accommodation places provide this. Binoculars and camera are a definite, in order for you not to miss out on those special moments!
